Sociology -- Research When Someone Research Proposal

Sociology -- Research

When someone gets a traumatic brain injury, he or she often has a diminished quality of life and is self-conscious about what can and cannot be done anymore. Whether that person can work again and what kind of employment outcome he or she will have often depends on the services that are received and how much rehabilitation takes place. Assessments and diagnoses are vital to determining what steps to take next, because job searches and job placement cannot be maximized before these two issues are addressed. In this particular article, however, assessment was not seen as having a significant relationship to employment outcome where how much money a person made was examined. The diagnosis and treatment of an individual with this type of injury had an overall positive correlation with the outcome where how much money was concerned and the job search and job placement had a negative effect on that variable, which was surprising.

There are more than 1.5 Americans who sustain traumatic brain injuries each year, so this is not a small problem that can be swept under the rug. It is something that has to be addressed and dealt with, especially with troops coming back from overseas with all kinds of brain injuries and other problems. The Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) is one of the best places to get the job guidance and assessment that a person with a brain injury needs so that person can go on to be a more productive member of society. A correlation study was utilized in this particular article so that the assessments and other concerns could be addressed and it could be determined which of them had something to do with how easily a person could be employed and how much that person made, and which ones did not. Although some of the variables were more significant than others when it came to whether a person could be gainfully employed and perform at a level equal to those without a brain injury, any assistance rendered to those people with brain injuries proved helpful in allowing them to more easily seek employment.
